The following types of waste are handled at Berks Transfer Inc.: C&D with a small percentage of MSW.

Construction and demolition (C&D) debris results from demolition or construction of buildings, roads and other structures. It typically consists of concrete, brick, wood, masonry, roofing materials, sheetrock, plaster, metals and tree stumps.

MSW, which is generated by households, businesses, institutions and industry. MSW that we accept include yard waste (green waste) which commonly include leaves, grass clippings, tree trimmings, and brush. Recyclables include paper, newsprint, ferrous metals, plastic containers, glass containers, and aluminum cans.

Our customers consist of local residents, contractors and local businesses. Residents typically haul in cars or pickup trucks; small businesses such as remodeling contractors, roofers, and landscapers haul their own wastes. Vehicle type used and the waste amount delivered to us varies considerably.

Commercial customers rent our rolloffs as do some residential customers. The commercial customers typically use our 30 and 40 yard roll offs. Most residential customers rent our 12 yd. or 20 yd. rolloff containers depending on the size of the job they're doing and the amount of debris that will be generated.

Our driving surface is paved to minimize dust generation. In the interest of safety and site efficiency we have a separate recieving area reserved for residential and small contractors who are dumping.

We are built to take in 1,000 tons of debris per day.
